Redlands,
CA, November 11, 1999 - Young Minds, Inc. the global
leader in UNIX CD-Recordable and CD-ROM mass storage
solutions announces the beta release of DVD Studio.
"We
have just completed development and are currently
beta testing a DVD-R version of our standard bearer
CD Studio", announced YMi’s President Matthew Hornbeck.
"The DVD Studio, which is currently being used to
create DVD-R discs at select beta sites, is due
to be released commercially in the first quarter
of 2000."
The
DVD Studio will create DVDs on many platforms including
Sun, Linux, NT, IBM, SCO, HP, Digital UNIX, and
SGI. Unlike DVD-RAM and the other rewritable formats,
DVD-R is not lost in a maze of proprietary hardware
and limited OS compatibility. DVD-R is the only
recordable DVD media readable in DVD-ROM drives.
At 4.7 GBs, DVD-R offers substantially more capacity
than DVD-RAM’s 2.6 GBs and DVD+RW’s 3.0 GBs.
"The
demand for the DVD Studio has been overwhelming,"
states Sales Manager Jim Bolander. "We see the demand
for DVD Studio growing over the next few months,
due in part to the lack of functional DVD-R solutions
in the marketplace." Young Minds is currently taking
requests for beta DVD Studios on a case by case
basis. Young Minds will be exhibiting the DVD Studio
on December 1st at the IT Solutions &
Information Assurance Conference hosted by the Space
and Missile Systems Center and the Ballistic Missile
Defense Organization.
